
Haldwani: A 22-year-old youth, Himanshu Panday from Uttarakhand whose father works as a driver, has brought laurels to the state by securing All India Rank (AIR) 1 in The Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission.
Himanshu got selected for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun after coming with flying colours in the CDS exam.
Himanshu, a resident of Haldwani, wanted to become an officer in the army since childhood. There is an atmosphere of happiness in the family with the achievement of the son. He did his schooling at ABM School, Haldwani.
Himanshu, who got first place in the country in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) CDS examination, which was released on Friday evening, did his intermediate education from ABM School in Haldwani and got 95 per cent marks in 12th.
He has also done B. Tech from Vipin Chandra Tripathi Engineering College, Dwarahat, Almora and after that he continued to prepare for joining the army with engineering studies.
The father of Himanshu Pandey, a resident of Haldwani in the Nainital district, works as a driver and his mother is a housewife.
In view of this, he was busy preparing for the exam for the past few years and finally, he secured the first position in the CDS examination in the country.
